A vibrant Scottish Agate and jasper circular brooch from the early Victorian era, c1850! The lovely hand wrought piece is made of sterling silver and features a stunning array of natural earth mined hardstones forming a colourful flower! Sourced from the bonnie Scottish mountains, the lovely cabochon petal-shaped hardstones display a gorgeous array of warm autumnal hues including, cream, beige, reddish brown and deep forest green with teeny red speckles, aka bloodstone. In between each hardstone is a sterling silver hand-engraved 'thistle' strip, holding the stones nicely in place whilst giving a gorgeous decorative feature. The hardstones are mounted to black slate which was often used in the earlier examples of pebble jewellery - it was readily available and often sourced in Scotland. A white metal back wire frame with pin and recent revolver clasp finishes the piece.

Size of the piece measures 4.80cm (just under 2") across.

The condition of the piece is good. Besides general surface wear, the stones are in good condition with some very small nicks though only seen from the back. The clasp works well. A gorgeous Scottish treasure!
