A wonderful antique paste Riviere necklace from the Victorian era, c1900! Made of gold gilt, this breathtaking necklace dazzles with French paste stones and bright blue glass stones which perfectly emulate chunky European cut diamonds and Persian blue turquoise gems! The paste stones individually rest in closed-back fancy coronet collets, and tiny saw-tooth claws holds each French paste stone in place. Suspended and interspaced at the front of the necklace are seven pear-shaped cluster drops, each feature a central tear cabochon turquoise glass stone surrounded with French paste stones. To the back neck, a French paste cluster push-in clasp finishes the necklace off beautifully!
The antique necklace is presented within the original 'Parisian Diamonds' fitted leatherette box. The Parisian Diamond Company were an opulent London jewellery store which traded from about 1890 to 1909. They were the leading wholesalers of paste jewellery in the early 20th century.
The necklace measures 42cm (16 & 1/2") long.
