A rare and lustrous strand of natural pearls from the Edwardian era, early 1900's! The petite antique pearl necklace consists of numerous seed pearls graduated to larger pearls at the front of the necklace. The natural pearls measure 1.40mm to the back and are precisely calibrated to 3.55mm largest pearl at the front. The natural pearls exhibit cream hues with rich overtones of rose, silver, green and blue, their varying orients and off-round shapes reflecting their unique organic beauty.
Very rarely do we see natural pearls, as many pearls on the market today have an internal bead which is part of the 'cultured' process, also known as cultured pearls. However, all of these pearls are of natural growth and not assisted in the oyster shell by a human - a freak of nature! The pearls in the strand have been examined with direct x ray radiography - the only sure scientific way to confirm natural internal growth.
A pearl authentication certificate carried out by the Australian Gem Identification Laboratory (GSL) would accompany the strand upon purchase.
Measuring 39cm (15 & 1/4") in choker length, the necklace is meticulously hand-strung on silk and secured with an original 9ct rose gold rectangle tongue-style clasp, enhancing its elegance.

The antique pearl necklace is in excellent condition. The string itself retains a firmness (we have not had this strand restrung), albeit there is no fraying, or looseness in between the pearls, hence why we have left as is. The clasps work very well with good tension. A stunning antique pearl necklace! |
